Your booking includes access to the following on-site and local facilities:
Swimming Pool Access
Complimentary use of the shared on-site BHL indoor pool is included. Standard bookings get 2 swim slots per week (short breaks of 5 nights or fewer get 1 slot). Please book your times directly with the main Barend reception desk.
Wood-Fired Sauna Sessions
We maintain a property membership that lets our guests book private sessions at the on-site wood-fired sauna (1 private session per week, or 1 Social Sauna session per guest per week). Speak to the reception team to book your slot.
Free Golf at Craigieknowes
You can play a free round of golf during your stay. Craigieknowes Golf Course is an independent course located 4 miles / 9 mins drive away. As our guests, your green fees are covered. Just show your digital booking confirmation at the clubhouse when you arrive.
Local Walks & Beaches
You don’t need the car for these. A couple of our favourite coastal paths start right from the front door:
Sandyhills Beach
A 10 min walk from the lodge porch. It’s a wide, sandy beach and is dog-friendly all year round.
Portling Bay Loop
Our favourite local 5.6km walk. It takes you along the clifftops past the Needle’s Eye rock arch and involves some local history and smuggling folklore.
Important Safety Notice: Always check local Solway Firth tide times before walking along the beach,as the tide comes in very quickly here.
