What’s Included

Sleeping Arrangements
The lodge has 3 bedrooms:
- Master: king size bed with ensuite
- Family room: 4 single beds (a fully enclosed private bedroom upstairs, unlike the open plan style in many similar lodges)
- Twin room: on the ground floor
There’s no charge for babies under 2 years of age who sleep in a cot (cots are available to hire for £15, see ‘bed linen’).

Bed Linen
- Beds are prepared for the number of guests booked.
- Please confirm at least one week before arrival which beds you would like made.
- If you’re hiring a cot please bring your own bedding; a mattress is provided.
- Bookings of 2 weeks are given a new set of linen and towels mid-way through the stay.

Bathrooms
Bathroom downstairs has:
- full size bath
- powerful mixer shower over bath
- basin with vanity unit and illuminated mirror
- toilet
En-suite upstairs has:
- mixer shower
- vanity unit & shaver socket
- toilet

Arrival and Departure
Check in from 4:00pm, check out by 10:00am.
There’s parking for 2 vehicles outside the lodge, and a car park a couple of mins walk from the front door. There’s a one way system and a 15mph site speed limit.

Damage Deposit
As per Barend’s booking terms and conditions, a credit or debit card (can be different from the one used to pay for the holiday) pre-authorisation to the value of £200.00 is required on checking in. Please see their site for more details.

Services, linen, towels etc.
The rental price includes:
- Heating, electricity, water (fair use cap may apply)
- Bed linen
- 1 hand and 1 bath towel for each guest (infants not included)
- A mat for each bath/shower

The lodge will have:
- Washing up liquid and handwash (refilled, so please don’t throw away the bottles)
- Dishwasher tablets

- 2 extra kitchen bin liners
- 1 toilet roll per toilet
- Hair dryer
- Iron and ironing board
- 1 stairgate and 1 highchair. You can also add more free of charge when booking.

Pets
It’s pet friendly accomodation, for a maximum of 2 pets added to your booking. Please don’t allow pets on the furniture unless there’s a blanket down, and don’t worry about letting reception know if you need some help cleaning.
For those of you without pets, or with allergies, rest assured that the lodge is cleaned thoroughly before each visit.
We don’t take a dog to the lodge. One of us has a mild allergy to pet hair, but hasn’t had any reactions when we stay.

Launderette
Open all day, every day (except 9:00am to 4:00pm Mon and Wed when it’s used for site laundry).

There are 2 entrances to the site (map of Barend). From the west (Dalbeattie) entrance: Follow the one way system up the hill. Lodge numbers continue from 11 after the internal road that joins on the right; 22 is further up on the right (in between 21 and 30).
From the east (Sandyhills) entrance: Take the 3rd turning on the left (by lodge 58) Go all the way to the T junction (past the give way and past lodge 23 on the left), then turn right and go up the hill to 22 on the right.

Facilities, Recycling etc.
Launderette
The washing machine costs £5.00 per cycle.
You’ll need your own laundry detergent.
The washing machine lasts around 35 minutes; please stay with your washing.
The tumble dryer is 20p/4 mins.
Recycling
There are 3 bins outside the lodge for recycling and general waste. They’re emptied on Monday & Friday. We’ve listed which items go where on this page. You should also receive an email from Barend with more information about the items to put in each bin.
Please take glass recycling to one of the glass collection points opposite lodge 52 or next to lodge 11 before departure.

Checking out
Please leave the lodge and return your key to Reception (or the postbox outside Reception) no later than 10:00am on the day of departure.
When you’re leaving, please…
- Return keys to any doors they’ve been removed from.
- Open all windows to ensure air maximum ventilation.
- Empty the vacuum cleaner into the outdoor bin if you’ve used it during your stay.
- Empty all internal bins and rubbish into the outside bins per the recycling guide.
- Strip all beds that you used including pillow protectors.
- Put the linen, tea towels, oven gloves and towels in the provided canvas laundry bag (this is usually on a hook in the hallway or in the hallway cupboard – see picture below) and tie closed.
- Fill the dishwasher with kitchen items you have used and turn it on – this makes it easier to disinfect kitchen items between guests.

Barend has a defibrillator in the main carpark on the wall under the archway heading towards the Bar.
NHS 111
NHS 111 makes it easier and quicker for patients to get the right advice or treatment for physical or mental health.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
To get help from NHS 111, you can:
- Go online to 111.nhs.uk (for assessment of people aged 5 and over only).
- Call 111 for free from a landline or mobile phone.

Fire Evacuation Procedure
Please familiarise yourselves with the information near the front door. If you remove door keys from locks (for example to prevent children from going onto a balcony unsupervised) please put the key close to the door, e.g. on top of the door frame.
Good to Know
Sale of Alcohol in Scotland
In Scotland, the sale of alcohol in shops is only permitted between the hours of 10.00am and 10.00pm and the drink-driving limit is lower in Scotland than the rest of the UK.
