3rd stay in this lodge … Loving the renovations

RecommendationsP, S, B & M Northamptonshire - review page from Serenity 22 Barend, Dalbeattie Guest Book

Have enjoyed getting out finding different walks, hubby played golf. Had couple swim sessions.

Loved beach walks + even had a surprise of a Puffin flying in front of us (I was too slow with camera)

This was our 3rd stay and also in this lodge again. Loving the renovations. This place is just perfect for resting, recharging the batteries.

All being well I think a couple of return trips will be made.

The lodge was just what we needed for our family … will definitely be back

Spent most of the time at many different beaches. The on site pool was ace too.

The kids loved their trip to Dalscone Farm.

We had a fantastic time with family who were in the next 2 lodges. Big family group. The lodge was just what we needed for our family especially with 5 children. The big kids loved their bedroom with the balcony. No issues at all with our lodge and will definitely be back 🙂

  • Enjoyed walking around the wee lock on-site (Heron, Swans, Dragonfly)
  • Nice private swimming session in the pool
  • We’d recommend the the Kirkcudbright Dark Space Planetarium, lots of fun educational activities and an impressive planetarium show
  • Also enjoyed the local beach

We enjoyed a comfortable stay in Serenity (love the fact you have Firefly box set DVDs* on the shelf – great series!)

*Glad you noticed 😉

The Anchor and The Mariner in Kippford are both dog friendly and the food is excellent.

We have been coming to the Barend since 1989, your chalet was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We would be happy to return in the future.

Criffel is worth the walk… lodge is in an excellent location

If you are fit and able, Criffel is worth the walk. There’s a lovely easy walk from Kippford to Rockcliffe.  Lovely tea room at Colvend – lovely tea and cake at reasonable prices.

This has been a fantastic week. The lodge is very comfortable and in an excellent location. So nice to sit on the balcony and read a book in the sunshine. Plenty of things to do locally inside and out. This is definitely a place we will return to in future if we get the chance.

Beautiful views… relaxing place to be

As we arrived at the site, I was immediately struck by the peaceful location. The lodge is situated on a hill and from the bedroom and lounge you have beautiful views, which can be improved on by moving to the balconies at the rear. It is a particularly nice place to be sat whilst reading a book. The lodge is very homely and although we were sharing with another family it still felt spacious. There is a large TV and DVD player in the lounge if you want to watch it but there are also games to keep you occupied. It is a relaxing place to be at the end of the day. We slept well in the beds as the mattresses are comfortable. The site has a restaurant and bar serving nice meals and drinks, along with a swimming pool which can be booked on an hourly basis for your family’s exclusive use.

The area has many nice places to visit without travelling very far. We enjoyed a walk up a local hill called Criffel. We took a pretty walk from Kippford to Rockcliffe and back. Sandyhills beach is a short walk away and you can walk along the coast. There is a deer park next door to the site that offers vehicle tours if you want to get closer to the animals. There is also a nice cafe there and we would recommend the one a short drive away in Colvend. If wandering around shops and stopping off in cafés is your thing then Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright are easily reached from the site.

We had a mixture of weather during the week as it was April. On the whole we enjoyed a very relaxing week and definitely managed to switch off while we were there. Highly recommended!

Everything was perfect

The accessible short walk trail around Kippford nature reserve were really good for a couple of hours of kids (age 2-5 yrs) on bikes & dog.
