Kilnford is a family farm with a shop, cafe, deli, butchery, and crafts. It’s a really nice complex, which has restored old farm buildings in keeping with the area, and they’ve also got a good range of things for sale.
We could easily spend an hour or more browsing. It’s also a good stop-off when travelling to or from the lodge.

The high roof and exposed timbers of the restored stable block make that part feel bright and airy.
The restaurant prides itself on home-cooked food that’s also farmed locally.
We’ve been a couple of times. Once we just had tea and cakes (the homemade white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and mint chocolate cake were particularly good!)
More recently, we went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. This is a popular time, so we had a bit of a wait for our food, but it wasn’t a problem as it’s a nice place to sit.

You can get staples like bread and local milk, as well as ales, biscuits, preserves, and more. The farm shop has a butcher’s counter with a selection of locally reared meat, as well as a deli counter, where we purchased some interesting cheeses. It’s also a good place to pick up gifts like locally made craft and pottery items.
It was raining when we visited, so we didn’t get to try the nature trail – where you can see their Belted Galloway cows and Blackface sheep – but we’d like to go back and do that.
