We’ve just got back from a few days at the lodge, and I thought I’d share some of the reasons why we love our lodge, and being at Barend…
1 – Loch view
Anyone visiting Barend will love staying in any lodge, but we particularly like sitting on our balcony – or looking out of the windows on chillier days 😄 – with our view over the loch.
2 – Privacy
We’re fortunate to have a large grassed area to the side and behind our lodge, so when we look out of the kitchen window we just see grass and trees 😍
3 – Spacious
Serenity sleeps 8, so we’ve enjoyed being able to invite friends and family to come with us.
4 – Log Cabin
There’s something magical about being in a wooden lodge, and it has a warm and cosy feel.
5 – Peace & Quiet
We love the peace and quiet of the area. That’s why we named the lodge “Serenity”, because we can relax and “breathe easier” here.
6 – Wow factor
It gets me every time; Barend looks fantastic 🤩, especially if you stroll around Barend Loch and look at the lodges across the water.
7 – Being Close to Nature
You can see or hear rabbits, badgers, swans, ducks, owls and deer either from the lodge or a few minutes walk away.
8 – Just Minutes from the Beach
Sandyhills beach is less than 15 mins stroll from our front door and we love exploring the sand, walking trails, caves and inlets, as well as the sealife.
9 – A Home from Home
We like having the scope to improve to our ‘home from home’ and so we hope others like the changes too!
10 – Close to Amenities
Being about 10 mins drive to Dalbeattie, it’s convenient to have a town nearby with shops, cafés, but far enough out to feel like you’re properly in the countryside.

- Swimming in Barend Pool – great to have the place to ourselves for an hour 🏊
